CAMP REHO Both Community Center

CAMP Rehoboth Mission

CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community service organization dedicated to creating a more positive environment in Rehoboth Beach and its related communities. We seek to promote cooperation and understanding among all people, as we work to build a safer and more inclusive community with room for all.

CAMP Rehoboth Purpose

We seek to promote community well-being on all levels; to foster the development of community groups; to develop community space; to promote human and civil rights; to work against prejudice and discrimination; to lessen tensions among the community at large; and to help foster the economic growth of the area. We work toward these ends through activities such as the following:

Fundraising for other non-profit organizations, such as AIDS service organizations, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community organizations, recycling programs, environmental projects, literacy training, and other ventures for the general betterment of the community.

Networking resources and information by publishing a newsletter, and functioning as an alternative tourist bureau and information center.

Promoting artistic expressions and creative thinking, and giving aid to artists and craftspeople with an emphasis on the works of lesbians and gay men.

Education and outreach to the larger community, including sensitivity training seminars, and printed materials to promote positive images of gay and lesbian people and others.

Promoting political awareness to build a safe and inclusive community through voter information, education, and registration; and analysis of issues and candidates.

From its inception the idea of providing community space has been a part of the mission of CAMP Rehoboth, but it wasn’t until the mid to late 1990s that the decision to expand into a full community center was made. Not long after, members of the local community working together in a series of CAMP Rehoboth Project Advisory workshops developed a community center vision statement to be added to the original CAMP Rehoboth mission and purpose

University of Delaware's LGBTQ+ Caucus

Mission

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” ~ Dr. Martin Luther King

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBTQ) Faculty/Staff Caucus is committed to fostering and sustaining a welcoming and affirming climate on campus for LGBTQ employees, students, families and visitors in accord with strategic goals of the University of Delaware’s strategic plan.

We recognize the diversity of self-identity and the other social-identity intersections that impact our experiences of sexual and gender orientation, identity and expression. We believe that all employees should feel accepted, valued, supported, appreciated, respected and belonging.  All faculty, staff, graduate assistants and administration at the University of Delaware who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning or an ally are welcome as members of the Caucus.

OBJECTIVES

The Caucus contributes to the University’s diversity goals by participating in and initiating activities that address:

  • university policies that affect the well being of faculty, staff and students who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer/questioning;

  • providing a safe and confidential forum for the discussion of issues important to the LGBTQ community at the University;

  • enhancing the LGBTQ cultural competency education on campus to help provide a more inclusive and safe environment for all LGBTQ UD members;

  • helping to create a safe, supportive and more equitable professional environment for all LGBTQ employees;

  • increasing the ability to recruit and retain LGBTQ faculty/staff and providing support on their arrival;

  • collaboration with student groups to support other equity efforts on campus;

  • and social networking to enhance a spirit of community among LGBTQ employees and students.
