Everyone is Gay Mississippi

Everyone Is Gay works to improve the lives of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning/Queer (LGBTQ) youth using a three-pronged approach: providing honest advice to these youth while keeping them laughing; talking to students across the country in an effort to create caring, compassionate school environments; and working with parents of LGBTQ kids to help foster an ongoing dialogue and deeper understanding.

Founded in 2010 by Kristin Russo and Dannielle Owens-Reid, the organization grew rapidly and began touring high school & college campuses in 2011. The Parents Project, a first-of-its-kind digital presence for parents of LGBTQ youth, was founded in 2013, and Dannielle and Kristin co-authored This is a Book for Parents of Gay Kids in 2014.

Unity Mississippi

We strive for unity within our community

In 2004, a handful of young Mississippians decided to put their knowledge and experience to good use. As creatives and organizers, our founders saw educational and entertainment opportunities as a chance to enhance the way Mississippi’s LGBT community relates with itself and the community at large. As LGBT individuals themselves, our founders had experienced frustrations and fears—both personal and professional—and did not want others to suffer the same sense of isolation, discrimination, and lack of community (many in our community experience). Out of this frustration grew Unity Mississippi. A 100% volunteer-based, non-profit organization with a clear mission, vision, andgoals.

Our Mission

Unity Mississippi is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and awareness purposes, more specifically: The purpose of Unity Mississippi is to establish and promote unity among the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) and Heterosexual communities by serving as the catalyst for statewide education, interaction, entertainment, community growth, visibility and awareness. Unity Mississippi is dedicated to promoting tolerance and acceptance of sexual minorities, increasing public awareness of minority-related concerns, health-related concerns (specifically HIV/AIDS and substance abuse), and bridging the gap between the heterosexual and GLBT communities in the State of Mississippi.

LGBT Rights Toolkit

The LGBT Rights Toolkit website is brought to you by the Campaign for Southern Equality (CSE).

Based in Asheville, North Carolina, the Campaign for Southern Equality is a non-profit organization that advocates for the full equality of LGBT individuals and families across the South.

1) We believe there is a pressing need for advocacy, legal and crisis response services for LGBT people in the South.

2) We believe that federal equality is the most efficient and effective pathway to equality for LGBT people in the South. We also believe LGBT people and allies in the South are uniquely positioned to accelerate winning full equality on the federal level by directly resisting discriminatory laws and systems.

3) We believe that every person – including those conflicted about or opposed to LGBT rights – can become an ally.

As a result, we’re taking a new approach, building upon a rich legacy of civil rights organizing in the South and working in close partnership with other LGBT and civil rights groups.

Rainbow Law Mississippi Directory LGBTQ Businesses and Organization

This Directory provides links to LGBTQ owned and friendly business and services.  As you browse through the directory remember to support business that respect you and your family.

Opponents of LGBTQ equality believe they are morally superior to gay and lesbian families and our supporters.  And they have the backing of the Bush administration whose campaign was financed by large corporations like Wal-Mart (see the Boycott page for a complete list of companies who supported Bush).

Instead of spending money at these and other straight-owned enterprises, why not spend your hard-earned dollars supporting businesses that support you and your family?

Use this directory and our classifieds to purchase products or services from queer owned or queer friendly merchants.  And if you have something to sell or trade, why not list it here – it’s free!
